I have enjoyed growing plants for over 50 years and still counting. All things about nature and seasons, the warm sunshine, the sound of the raindrops, the frigid cold, the dancing snowflakes enhance my spirit and mind as I enjoy God's creation of nature.

​

The growing season I love best for it is the dominating period when plant life springs forth with the growth of new plants, and shrubs and trees come out of their sleeping dormant rest.

​As far back as can remember, I grew up around the houseplants and gardening my mother was into, and the little farm my father had in Glen Burnie, Maryland exposed me to growing different plants & flowers as well as vegetables and fruit trees. I constantly came around them watching as they cultivated the growing seedling, propagating clippings, and tending to plants. I developed a strong interest to see if I could them. Of course, my grandparents, mother, and father were lovers of plants, so I inherited the gene. And so, I did…  I guess you can say, “I was born with a Green Thumb.”  I gathered growing methods from my late parents, who passed on to me everything they practiced to successfully grow about anything they wanted.

​For 50 years I have been planting and working in the garden to beauty the indoors and outdoors of my home with annuals, perennials, and tropical plants. I have experimented with diverse ways of growing plants, many were successful, some died, this taught me what to do and of course, the dead plants imparted an understanding of what not to do.

​

I created this website “Dennis’s Plant Garden” at the advice of my wife Linda and friends who encouraged me to share my knowledge and experiences. So, I began building the website and it provides an online platform for community gardeners to share their plant information and practices. The persuasion of neighbors along with Linda encouraged and supported my efforts in gathering plant care data, and now I pass this on to you.
